The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is hiring two Administrative Clerk/Chauffeurs for its Office of Humanitarian Assistance in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. These roles are open exclusively to internal candidates who are currently employed by the U.S. Government in Ethiopia.

About the Role

The Administrative Clerk/Chauffeur will support USAID staff by providing reliable transportation, assisting with administrative tasks, and delivering critical documents and materials. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring seamless operations for USAID’s humanitarian missions in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation Services (60%)

  • Provide chauffeur services for USAID staff within Addis Ababa and across Ethiopia.
  • Support field visits, airport pickups, and guide USAID personnel during trips.
  • Ensure timely response and travel during emergencies or disaster responses.

Administrative Duties (40%)

  • Manage vehicle logs and perform routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Deliver documents and invitations while maintaining accurate records.
  • Support daily office tasks, including clerical and logistical support.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $9,662–$17,414 per year (based on FSN-5 scale).
Period of Performance: Five years (with possibility of renewal).

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum secondary school education.

Experience

  • At least two years of administration, driving, or humanitarian work experience in Ethiopia.

  • Strong familiarity with Ethiopian traffic laws and routes.
  • Knowledge of file management and office correspondence procedures.
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic.

Requirements

  • A valid Ethiopian driver’s license (3rd grade or equivalent).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and emergencies with professionalism.
