The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are the most prestigious business schools in India, and admission to these institutes is highly competitive. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the primary entrance exam for MBA programs at IIMs and other leading business schools in the country. IIM CAT 2024 Eligibility
To be eligible for CAT 2024, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
- Obtained at least 50% marks in the bachelor’s degree (45% for SC/ST/PwD/DA candidates)
- Final year students awaiting results can also apply
- No age limit
- Candidates with professional degrees like CA/CS/ICWA are also eligible, provided they meet the minimum percentage requirement
IIM CAT 2024 Registration
The CAT 2024 registration process will begin on August 1, 2024, and will remain open for over 45 days. Candidates can register on the official CAT website (iimcat.ac.in) by providing personal and academic details, uploading a recent passport-size photo and signature, and paying the application fee of INR 2,500 for general category and INR 1,250 for reserved category.
IIM CAT 2024 Exam Pattern
The CAT 2024 exam will have three sections:
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
- Quantitative Ability (QA)
- The exam will have a total of 66 questions to be answered in 120 minutes. The number of questions has been reduced from 100 in previous years, and there will be no grammar-based questions.
IIM CAT 2024 Admit Card
The CAT 2024 admit card will be available for download on November 7, 2024, from the official CAT website. Candidates will need to log in using their ID and password to access the admit card, which will contain important information such as the test center, exam date, and other essential details related to the examination.
IIM CAT 2024 Selection Process
The CAT 2024 selection process involves the following steps:
- CAT exam: Candidates must appear for the CAT 2024 exam on November 24, 2024.
- IIM CAP round: Candidates who meet the initial selection criteria will be invited to participate in the IIM CAP (Common Admission Process) round.
- WAT-PI rounds: Each participating IIM will conduct its own rounds of Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).
- Performance assessment: IIMs will evaluate each candidate’s performance based on their CAT score, WAT, PI, and overall profile.
- Merit list compilation: Based on the evaluation, each IIM will create its own merit list for admission purposes.
- Final list publication: The final list of selected candidates will be made available on the respective IIM’s website.
IIM CAT 2024 Result
The CAT 2024 result is expected to be announced in the final week of December 2024. Candidates can access their scorecard by logging in to the official CAT website using their ID and password. The CAT 2024 scorecard remains valid for one year, and candidates must secure admission to MBA colleges within this time frame using their CAT 2024 result.
