These Nurse (Clinical Research) positions are part of a career/clinical ladder program with growth potential up to GS-12. The positions support a variety of specialty units/clinics, including:

- Oncology Medical Surgical and Pediatric Day Hospitals
- Specialty Ambulatory Clinics
- Critical Care Units
- Inpatient Pediatrics
- Operating Room
- Neuroscience Unit

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care for research participants.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to balance clinical and research needs.
- Document observations and trends for effective communication within the research team.
- Support protocol implementation, data collection, and human subjects’ protection.
- Fulfill roles such as primary nurse, charge nurse, preceptor, or protocol coordinator.
Qualifications
To qualify for these positions, you must:
- Have a graduate or higher degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
- Hold an active, unrestricted nursing license in the U.S. or its territories.
- Have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) or obtained licensure prior to its implementation.
Additional experience requirements:
- GS-09: Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to GS-07.
- GS-11: Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to GS-09, with comprehensive nursing care and technical skills in clinical settings such as ICU, OR, PACU, etc.
Conditions of Employment
- U.S. Citizenship or proof of U.S. National status is required.
- Position may require rotational, night, holiday, or weekend shifts.
- Selectees must complete a Pre-Employment Medical Screening.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 35 lbs is essential.
- Emergency Essential Designation (Tier-1): Must be available to report during emergencies.
