New Delhi, September 25, 2024: In a significant move aimed at further supporting farmers across the nation, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) scheme on October 5, 2024. The direct benefit transfer will provide much-needed financial assistance to millions of eligible farmers, helping them meet their agricultural expenses and boost their livelihoods.
The PM KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, has been a flagship initiative of the Indian government, providing income support of ₹6,000 annually to small and marginal farmers in three equal installments. This latest disbursement, part of the scheme’s ongoing commitment, is expected to benefit around 12 crore registered farmers, further empowering the agricultural sector.

Mandatory eKYC for All Registered Farmers
Ahead of the installment release, the government has emphasized that eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) compliance is mandatory for all registered farmers to continue receiving the benefits under the scheme. The Ministry of Agriculture has urged farmers to complete their eKYC verification to avoid any delays in receiving the 18th installment.
Farmers can complete their eKYC through two methods:
- OTP-based eKYC: Farmers can easily complete this process by visiting the official PM KISAN portal. This option allows registered farmers to verify their identity through an OTP sent to their registered mobile number.
- Biometric-based eKYC: For farmers without access to mobile-based OTP services, biometric verification is available at the nearest Common Service Centres (CSCs). These centers are spread across the country and can assist in completing the verification through biometric scanning.
The government has also reiterated the importance of ensuring that farmers complete this mandatory process promptly to avoid disruption in the timely disbursement of benefits.
PM KISAN’s Role in Supporting Indian Farmers
Since its inception, the PM KISAN scheme has aimed to address the financial challenges faced by farmers, particularly those owning small and marginal holdings. The scheme has had a profound impact on ensuring farmers have access to funds during critical agricultural seasons, improving their capacity to buy seeds, fertilizers, and other essential inputs.
The 18th installment release comes at a crucial time, as it will further enhance farmers’ preparedness for the upcoming Rabi season. With the emphasis on digitalization and transparency, the government is committed to ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients without delays or complications.
The PM KISAN scheme continues to be a cornerstone of India’s agricultural policy, empowering farmers and strengthening the backbone of the nation’s rural economy.
